A Proactive Attitude in a Reactive World

There is just something classy about a sunflower that just seems to brighten up a space. It is the perfect blend of saying goodbye to summer fun and hello to fall this time of year. I don't know if it's the color, the size, or the fact it feels like a piece of sunshine sitting on the table. No matter, because it always puts a smile on my face and adds a splash of cheer to my day! Today one of my kids completed a homeschool lesson on having a proactive attitude. I couldn't help but let my mind drift (yes, that happens to teachers too...well, at least this one) about how as Christians we should pursue a proactive attitude in our daily walk too.  We are surrounded by a society trying to manipulate us into reactive responses based on emotions. Therefore, it only benefits those of us who are, "Looking for that blessed hope..." Titus 2:13 to apply a whole lot of Philippians 4:8 to our mindset to help keep ourselves from this trap. How do we exhibit a positive, proactive attitude? Read and pray daily. It's that simple. He'll guide you and grow you if you are willing to take any size step toward Him, he'll match every step you take. Why should we strive to be proactive? So that we can witness effectively with our actions and attitudes. Some common characteristics of people with proactive attitudes include the use of positive language, self-control in stressful situations, great problem-solving skills, the ability to accept constructive criticism, and an awareness of strengths and weaknesses. So, I pray you will find comfort in a well-made plan for spiritual success today. Much Love, JH
